2024 Alabama Association Junior Olympic Qualifier, Open, Master's Championship
AGE DIVISIONS & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Age Divisions
8 and Under (born 2016 or later)
9-10 (born 2014-2015
11-12 (born 2012-2013)
13-14 (born 2010-2011)
15-16 (born 2008-2009)
17-18 (born 2006-2007)
* Athletes born in 2005 are also eligible if they do not turn 19 on or before 7/30/2024
Individuals
Only U.S. citizens, aliens living in the United States, and foreign exchange students are eligible to compete in these Championships. See the USATF Rules for more information and exceptions. A competitor must compete in his/her age division only. There will be no "moving up" in any events, including relays.
Competitors in the 8 and Under, 9-10,11-12 divisions may compete in a maximum of three events, including relays.
Competitors in the 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 may compete in a maximum of four events, including relays. All athletes must be 2024 members of USATF in good standing.
Relay Teams
Only registered 2024 USATF member clubs may enter a relay team(s). All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with and members of that club as part of their USATF membership.

Admission: $10.00/day for 12 and over Free for under 12. Cash Only Accepted.
ENTRY PROCESS
Individual Entries: 10.00 each event and 20.00 each relay.

Your USATF number will be requested with athletes’ online registration.
Entries will not be processed until fees are paid!
ELIGIBILITY
Each athlete must have a USATF membership. All relay teams must be part of a sanctioned USATF club.
AGE VERIFICATION
Age verification is now processed through USATF Connect. This is now done by uploading documents into USATF Connect. The verification is done by the National Office and can take up to 5 business days to complete. Age verification must be finished before the closing date of entries for this meet.
AWARDS
USATF Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to the top three individuals and top three relay teams in each event for all age divisions.
ADVANCEMENTS
The top 8 (THERE WILL BE NO MOVE UPS) individuals and relay teams in each age division will advance to the Region 6 Meet. The Region 6 Meet will be held at Hughes Field, 545 Ellis Ave, Jackson MS. Combined Events July 4-5. All other events will be July 6-7 The National Championships will be at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX on the E.B. Cushing Stadium from July 21-27, 2024.
Horizontal jumps and throws will utilize 3 preliminary trials with up to 8 competitors going to finals.
IMPLEMENT WEIGH-IN
Saturday June 22 7:00.AM to 11:00.AM. Track Building Meet management will provide implements in all field events.
SPIKE CHECK
All athletes must have their spikes checked before reporting for competition. Spike check will be held by the Hurdle Building just outside the fence near the clerking area.
Only spikes 1⁄4” pyramid or less will be allowed on the track. Spike check will be conducted. Zip ties will need to be on the spikes showing they went through spike check.
EVENT CHECK-IN
There will be separate check-in areas for Running and Field Events. Running events will check in at the clerk of course. Field Event athletes should check in at the competition location on the first call for the event. All athletes will be required to remain in the designated warm-up areas after checking in.
COMPETITION BIB NUMBERS
All competitors must be properly dressed and wear their assigned bib numbers during competition on the front on their jerseys only. If an athlete loses the bib number, replacement bib numbers are five dollars each.
Bib numbers will be in the coaches or individual athletes’ package at the entry gate of the track. Relay team members must be uniformed in competition, or the relay team will be disqualified.

PROTESTS
Protests must be submitted to the Meet Referee no later than 30 minutes after a result has been announced. There will be a $25 charge for all protests. The $25 will be returned if the protest is upheld. For all protests, the decision of the referee shall be final.
SPECIAL RULES OF COMPETITION FOR USATF MEETS
Competitors must compete in the division determined by the competitor’s year of birth 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12 age groups may compete in three events including relays.
All others age groups may compete in four events including relays. There will be no "Moving up” in any events, including relays.
The top eight from each event in each division at the association meet will qualify for the region meet. There will be no move ups.
Time schedules are subject to change. Any schedule changes will be announced and posted.
Athletes displaying unsportsmanlike behavior (language, clothing or actions) will be disqualified.
Switching bib numbers is illegal. You must wear bib matching your name.
You may not compete under another person’s name.
Athletes MUST compete only in their age groups.
COACHING CREDENTIALS
Youth Championships Coaching Credentials shall be issued based upon the following criteria:
USATF Coaches Registry Member
Current USATF (adult) Membership
Current USATF Background Screening
Current SafeSport Compliant
Fulfill Education Standard and submit verification application through USATF Connect
Listed as “Coach” on the USATF Club Profile
Must have an athlete or club entered in the current Championship.
Coaches for Unattached athletes are required to adhere to the Coaching Credential requirements for the issuance of a coaching credential.
There will be no credential allocation limits. Credentials will be issued only upon verification of all listed criteria/mandates. There will be no exceptions.
To assist in processing Coaching Credentials Please forward the names of any coaches to be in the competition area to president@al.usatf.org no later than June 17, 2024. This will allow time for checking compliance with the above requirements.
VOLUNTEERS
We will need volunteers to conduct the meet. Volunteers will need to be SafeSport certified. It is best if the volunteers are SafeSport certified using the same 3 step procedure as Coaches. However, USATF does offer a Restricted Volunteer Waiver program.
